Liver transplant patients get a ray of hope

Maharashtra has scored a first as far as liver transplants are concerned. In fact, the ABO-incompatible liver transplant that doctors at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital (KDAH) and Global Hospitals (GH) did was the first in western India itself.

New Delhi: An organ transplant is not an easy job with the task of finding a compatible donor often proving arduous. A new device, however, removes the need for the donor to share the recipient`s blood group and two operations have already been successfully carried out at a Hyderabad hospital.
